Trojans 25-30 in 2008 season

In 2008, the Colby Community College baseball team had an up-and-down roller coaster season. Early on the Trojans suffered injuries to their pitching staff, leaving them three arms short. Returning sophomore pitcher Steve Blankenship was one of those pitchers, leaving the team with no experienced returning starters. Also injuries to transfer Cory Little and freshman Ryan Beecroft left the Trojans staff somewhat depleted.

Despite the injuries, the Trojans started the conference season well, beginning with an 8-3 record. The Trojans hit a slump through the middle of the season and found themselves on the road for the first-round of the Region VI tournament. The Trojans won game one over Kansas City, KS Community College, but dropped the next two games to miss out on the Region VI championship tournament for the second-straight season.

Sophomore Aaron Dunsmore led a strong offensive attack for the Trojans, who hit .329 as a team. Dunsmore finished with a .404 batting average, 14 homeruns, 55 RBI, and a school record 23 doubles. Freshman Scott Hornstra established early on he was a force to be reckoned with and was one of the top players for the Trojans offensively, defensively and on the mound. Hornstra tied for the team-lead with 5 victories and batted .388 with 7 homeruns, 48 RBI, 20 doubles, 4 triples and 76 hits.
